sir,
I am directed by the Board of Trade to state,
for the information of Mr. Secretary Bonar Law, that it has been reported to them that the British steamer "Hoi Way of Hong Kong, has been sold to Chinese subjects, the register being closed on the 22nd June last. The Board of Trade had not granted permission for the transfer of this vessel in accordance with the provisions of the British Ships (Transfer Restriction) Act, and I am accordingly to suggest, for the consideration of the Secretary of State, that the authorities at Hong Kong might be asked for further particulars in regard to the matter. By
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office,
S.F.
I have the honour to be,
sir,
Your obedient Servant,
